Bon Fire Night

We survived Bon Fire Night, thankfully. Last year the anxiety from hearing fireworks made our old dog Rodger go downhill fast. From the weekend onward we took Heidi out at about 4.30pm while it was still light, and that was it. She did her last toilet in the garden.

On Bon Fire night itself we could hear fireworks in the evening indoors for a few hours. Heidi was shaking like a leaf at one point, but I tried to keep casual about it all. She took herself into the spare room, which has lots of stuff to hide down beside, and it only has a small window that looks onto a wall. She takes herself in there when there is thunder and lightening, so she must associate it with safety. We just let her be, and gave her a Kong in there which seemed to take her mind off it all when there was no bangs. She was upset for a few hours and then fine again.
